  Correlation between personality types and religio-spiritual leanings?

  someone in a completely different segment of associates from you old ex-jws here posed this wish:.

  i've often wished someone would do a study to see if there is a real correlation between personality type and religious/spiritual leanings.

  i've long noticed that in fantasy subcultures and "new" religions, as well as those that attract many adult converts (and have trouble retaining people born into the faith), the same types keep showing up.

  I think Dubs tend to attract the conservative minded outsiders. They see their little worlds going to the dogs and grasp onto a promise of decency, of a world where everyone wears nice clothes, has a Nice haircut and doesn't partake in "deviant" sex. I think they have a very juvenile immature view of the world. One where "daddy" will look after them, keep them safe from the nasty things and make everything happy and nice again.

  Ah the LA (NonRP) vampire scene, now that is WEIRD. Over here we get a few Marylin Manson lookie likees and occasional the goth with false fangs but nothing in the LA league where they have permanent dental work and occasionally drink real blood.

  I've long noticed that in fantasy subcultures and "new" religions, as well as those that attract many adult converts (and have trouble retaining people born into the faith), the same types keep showing up. They tend to have similar psychological, social and even physical traits.

  I don't know about Religious cults (Only having been in one myself) but those fantasy subcultures tend to attract a certain type. Do some googling on Star Trek conventions they really do attract the geeky types that live at home with mummy and that have never kissed a girl.

  From now on I'm calling this the "Rainy Season"

  for a 2nd year on a row, it's been raining most of april, may, and now june.

  i went for a ride on bike.

  i was 6 miles away and it was sunny.

  On the way back, the sky suddenly blackened and the torrential rains just poured down as I didn't have a brolly with me. I was silently cursing as I ran the rest of the way, but I was absolutely soaked to the skin

  I hope not, its been bad enough living here among them having them bleating on and On about winning the Rugby and the Cricket, I couldn't bare to hear all that boasting about the world cup.

  Why do the English treat international football matches like "extra time" in a war. The English love playing anyone they've been at war with. Your average English football fan organisms at the thought of an England / Germany / Argentina play off.

  HELP!! ** Do you have a stop smoking strategy??**

  ok, ok, i know it's bad for you and it uses up your cash but i need to stop but i quite like it.

  i should never have started (heard that before) but hey ho what's done is done.. did you have a puff and if so did you manage to quit?

  any ideas/suggestions warmly received.

  Easy, unless you want to freeze yer baws off smoking outside a pub or club come the winter up there you're gonna have to stop. A way to really put you off the smell and show you how much you STINK is to take a load of cigarette butts put them in a jar with a little bit of water and seal the jar with the lid over night. When you feel the need for a cigarette, unscrew the jar lid and take a big sniff of the contents. The smell will put you off

  Thanks a lot everyone that replied. I REALLY needed to get this off my chest and doing so in here was my equivalent of going out into and empty field and screaming at the sky. Your're replies had me balling my eyes out last week, which was something I hadn't been able to do but needed to do. Thanks
